Championship Game Predictions.

Okay let's get right in to it

Denver Broncos vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Okay it's time for the Steelers luck to run out. Sorry you aren't going to win this game Steelers. Well I shouldn't say that but it's a far shot. First the Steelers need to play mistake free offense, a single fumble, a single interception, anything like that, even a big pentaly, the thing is that gives Denver the momentum they need, as if they don't have it. Undefeated at home, they dont need any other fire in their bellies. Denver will need to run, but you know what...Denver will do that.

Prediction: Denver

Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers

Okay this is toughie. I'm going gut check here.

Prediction: Carolina

Death of a "Dynasty" and I use that term loosely.

The Death of a “Dynasty”

Dateline Denver.

The Broncos just won their first playoff game without the name Elway behind center, Jake Plummer got a raise from Al-Queda by distracting us all with his bootlegs and defeating the Patriots, and Dan Marino who made the quote “Jake Plummer will have to beat the Patriots and I don’t think he can”, is crying somewhere probably with Shannon Sharpe, who surprise, surprise picked the Broncos, laughing at him and me, well I’m happier then a pig in shit. You see I’m from Philadelphia…that’s all I have to say.

When I first started watching the game I saw a play that totally changed my view of the New England Patriots. The Broncos bought about nine men in the box on a full blitz and basically what happened was there was a false start call, and John Lynch pumped his fist in the air and got the crowd, that hasn’t seen a playoff game since this particular one in question, in to the game and Brady responded with the same gesture almost as if undermining him, it just really got me ticked off and this was in the first three minutes of play, I think it was the first possession. It showed an attitude of Brady, and from that moment I knew they were doomed.

If there was ever a team to defeat the New England Patriots it would be the Denver Broncos. This season the Broncos and the Hawks were reminiscent of the New England team that “stole” some Superbowls. They found ways to win, and ways to loose. They were excellent when things came home. At home field I believe they were perfect, yep perfect. They made do with what they could, if the run game wasn’t working they could pass, and the pass was shut down they could run. They returned to their level of play and most importantly don’t have to face the Colts, thus becoming my Super Bowl pick and the odds on favorite. Somewhere my Uncle Mark and my friend Frank Morrani are happier then a pig in shit. I don’t blame them, so am I. The Pats finally lost.

See the Patriots are the evil empire of the NFL. If I had to hear a dumb speech from Tom Brady and the word “dynasty” one more time, I might have cried or killed someone, whichever would have been less time consuming so probably the crying, although you can kill people quickly. The Patriots in one night managed in my mind at least almost wipe away three or four years of the dynasty. The Defense played horribly, their was some pushing and shoving that went against the Diet Pepsi Machine/Visa Check Card ideals of a Mr. Tom Brady and the Patriots as whole, things just were amuck and of course that hit on Champ Bailey. The man sprints 90 yards downfield gets knocked out of bounds, it’s the play you gotta try to make and gets JACKED in the back, cheap hit but the play to make. Patriots fans have spoken they are impressed a Tight End could run that fast, they always find the silver lining.

Speaking of Patriots fans the following is me clarifying every Patriot argument used:

-“The Tuck Rule” : No such thing. Face the facts Pats fans Tom Brady fumbled in the snow, the Raiders won the game. The NFL fix was in. A linemen’s brother was a Firefighter in New York it was the Super Bowl right after 9/11. A team like the Patriots it gave the country hope and moral support and all that happy horse shit. They won by three points, on a game ending Adam V field goal, clearly the makings of a dynasty. That was sarcasm

-“Three Points” : The margin of victory in each and every Superbowl win by the Pats. That shows that the Pats along with certain teams they have played cannot close. Winning by three is like getting the last out with the bases loaded up only two…it’s just, just…not good.

-“Tom Brady” : Nowhere near as good as everyone says he is. Sure he has won in the post season but the man has made some uber bad decisions as well, and no I’m not talking about the Visa commercials. How bout the decision to throw the ball from his ass into the arms of a DB for the Miami Dolphins to get handed a lost last season, or the various other bad throws he has made over the years. Tom Brady is def. Top five material but he’s not that good.

That’s really about it. I would say I told you so about the Panthers vs. the Bears but…I’m too tired. Coming soon...my picks for this weekend...my picks for the Superbowl and the draft talk (Vince Young to the Saints....???!!!)

Elite Eight.

This weekend we see four playoff games that might, that just might be better then USC/Texas and/or the Superbowl, I'm not entirely sure yet but either way I'm going to preview the matchups and talk smack on people I don't like should be fun.

Da Bears vs. the Panthers

The first time these two teams met Steve Smith, you know the guy who "shared" the Comeback Player of the Year with Roid Rage Teddy B caught fourteen passes. That cannot happen again. I don't care if Carolina only got a field goal out of it. Everytime the ball comes in contact with Steve Smith there is a chance he will take it to the house. The Bears boast a stout Defense, well then blitz Delhomme like you did before, sack him eight times again and force turnovers. If the Bears do not win the turnover battle they loose, it's that simple. In that respect I think a healthy dosage of DeShawn Foster is in order, provided he keeps his feet moving and pounds out the yardage and holds onto the ball. For Chicago their offense has been nothing to really go nuts about but they can put up SOME points, not alot but some. However with a defense that was terrificly underrated last week, I don't think that will happen. The Panthers remind me of the team that should've beat the Pats in the Super Bowl.
Pick: Carolina to advance to the NFC Championship game.

Seattle Seahawks vs. The Washington Redskins

The Skins should be praying all week that they are acctually in the game. That was a touchdown but was bittersweet revenge on the whole "Was Altstott in the end zone?" during their regular season meeting. Seattle is one of the most sound teams I've seen in a while, they remind me of the Eagles of last year except their running game is what the Eagles passing game was...deadly. Now don't get me wrong Hasselback can throw but if Alexander goes over 100 yards it's a gurDAMNtee that the Hawks win and advance, however the Skins have a decent defense and Alexander is going to need help from the line and all kinds of shit. On the other side, a total of twenty five yards of passing is bullshit. Mark Burnell should be banned from QB history for that. That wont win this game. You need to put up points, whether it be with Shawn Taylor spitting at people or who knows. I dont think the DEF is gonna be able to contain Alexander for long, as well as keep the passing game in check. It stays close until the third where the Hawks run away with it.
Pick: Seattle Seahawks to host the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers.

The New England Patriots vs. the Denver Broncos

Denver is finally hosting a playoff game in their new stadium. I would love to see them win, but let's face it the NFL wants to see Indy vs. New England...again. However Indy vs. Denver would be decent too. I seriously think that Denver can steam roll the Patriots but like someone said "it's metaphysical, Tom Brady cannot be beaten in the postseason". One way or another that ends this year. It ends here acctually. Denver is going to give the Pats a dose of two backs, Tatum Bell and Mike Anderson and then hit Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie down the field. Jake Plummer has turned his game around and I think their offense is enough to take care of the Pats Defense. The feat is that this game will become a shoot out with Tom Brady hitting Ben Watson for another fifty four yard rumble. No offense but this isn't Jacksonville, the Pats are going to have to try. I think Denver is going to limit the offense of New England. I say it's really close until Champ picks off Brady and returns it too the house.
Pick: Denver to knock the Pats back down the ladder...finally!

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indy Colts

I know some people that think Pittsburgh can hang in this one, it's a lie. Indy has their number ready...run Edge to the left, watch Peyton's MCL and then toss two touchdowns and put your Defense on the field. The Steelers Offense is more so about trick plays and the running game, the Indy Defense has been amazing this year they will smother the running game with Cato June and Dwight Freeny and the trick plays, experince on the DEF comes into play there. As for the Steelers Defense it doesn't match up well with speedy receivers that streak on random whims aka Wanye, Stokely and Harrison. Throw the ball away from that freak with the long hair that went to USC and your good. Indy wins by at least 9 points, at least.
Pick: Indy to host Denver for the AFC Championship game.

This is a good weekened to be a fan of the sport...a good weekend indeed. Now I'm off...the Philadelphia Phillies need me to lead them to a World Series in MlB2k5.

Penn State/Florida State & USC/Texas

Okay I guess we'll start with the first game.

Penn State (#3) vs. Flordia State (#22).

So I think both of these rankings are complete and utter crap. Penn State played really only three teams worth talking about...they played Ohio State without Troy Smith (you know the guy who destroyed Charlie Weiss in that "other bowl game") which they one, they faced a stout Michigan team which they lost to and of course Michigan State in the last game of the regular season which they also won. I don't think meaningless wins over teams such as Northwestern and others should merit a Number Three ranking, that's part of the problem with having colleged book against each other with limited to no interaction from the BCS and what not. Flordia State's Number Twenty Two tack on is a tribute to their in ability to put away teams. I mean they have the talent, they proved that the other night. Defensive backs were all over the place, the run, the pass both working to perfection...had the special teams been dead on...Penn State doesn't win, they loose in regulation.Flordia State proved they were a horrible ranked team, they should've been much higher, much higher.

Another thing that the Penn State faithful have been sporting is this case that Penn State has the best linebacking corp in the country, now friends that's just completly wrong. AJ Hawk, Road Warrior Animal (you know member of the LOD) his son on the bench and that long blonde haired Carpenter kid take that award, and the award for still using Pat Tillman to sell tickets (their long hair is a tribute to the man that gave his life for this country). Okay Joe Pa won coach of the year that's great, they won the game great. They won with some luck and triple overtime, nothing to be proud of. It's like when the Yankees walk into Citizen's Bank Park next year, they SHOULD win that game, no one will go nuts that they win, cause they SHOULD. Penn State should've and almost didnt...that's the sad part.

Now onto the best.game.ever.

USC (#1) vs. Texas (#2)

David and Goliath right here and right now. It's Reggie Bush and his Hesiman Trophy and pending first round NFL pick, against Vince Young, Texas Football, his could've, would've, should've Heisman theory and of course his pending elgiablity. Well last night one man outshined the other. Let's take a look at the numbers. I heard alot of talk about Reggie Bush scoring more TDS, last night what happened White carried USC, Reggie Bush did a Mike Vick flip into the end zone. On the other side Vince Young, hoisted the team onto his shoulders, said no tonight USC and did what he did alll year and that was win games, that was win games FOR his team, not WITH like Bush, but FOR. That's what makes him the Heisman Trophy winner in my book. The House of J Money Hesiman Trophy = Vince Young.

Reggie Bush trying to latarel the ball, the timeout after the last TD, Matt Leinart taking too much time, all of these things lead to the demise of USC last night, proving that their lack of Defense, the lack of Defense they faced, proving all of that 100% right. Yep. Texas shut them down I think three times and that is all it took, three stops and the legs of Vince Young who took home the Offensive Player of the Game which he deserved. I still think the guy should've went over and been like "Hey Heisman...I'll trade ya," to Bush, would've been classic. Vince Young showed the whole country why he should've been the winner this year, not next year when he is a senior but this year. Will he come back I hope so...Texas as a two time, two time National Champion I could get used to that. In closing, HOOK EM LONGHORNS!!

I'll be back tommorow with my review of the playoff action for this weekend, and yes I will be wearing my Jacksonville jersey...Number 58 baby...HUGH DOUGLAS. He punched out TO.

J Money...out.
